In the meantime, here are some handy tips to stay cool until our technician gets there:

  • Turn on your ceiling fans and set them to spin counterclockwise
  • Close your window blinds and curtains
  • Keep external doors closed as much as possible
  • Ventilate your home at night by opening windows
  • Avoid using heat-emitting appliances
  • Try making a temporary AC

Turn on your ceiling fans and set them to spin counterclockwise

Ceiling fans usually spin clockwise by default, giving you that extra cool breeze by pushing air down. But if your AC isn’t working, try switching your fan’s direction to counterclockwise. This helps spread any cool air around the room, making it more comfortable. To change the fan’s rotation, just find the switch near the fan’s mounting fixture.

Close your window blinds and curtains

While sunlight can be pretty inviting, it’s best to close your window blinds and curtains if your AC isn’t working. This helps keep your home cooler. And try to resist the urge to create cross-ventilation by opening windows during the day, as it doesn’t really keep out the warm air.

Keep external doors closed as much as possible

Try to keep all external doors like the front, back, basement, and garage doors closed as much as possible. This helps keep warm air out and prevents things from getting worse.

Ventilate your home at night by opening windows

When the temperature drops at night, try opening your windows to let in some cool air and make your home more comfy. Just don’t forget to close them in the morning!

Avoid using heat-emitting appliances

To keep your home cooler, try not to use big appliances like the oven, stove, dryer, and dishwasher. They generate a lot of heat and can make your place even warmer.

Try making a temporary AC

Desperate times call for creative solutions! Ever tried making your own cooling device with just ice and an electric fan? Here’s a fun trick: fill a big bowl or container with ice and set it in front of a running fan. The fan will blow warm air onto the ice, cooling the air and giving you some much-needed relief. Give it a shot!

These tips should help you stay cool while your AC is being fixed! Remember, Springboro Heating & Cooling is here for all your HVAC needs. We’re committed to providing fast, effective service. Don’t hesitate to give us a call so you can experience our five-star customer service!
